Rules of Conduct

Membership is a privilege, which is subject to renewal, revocation, or termination due to a member’s failure to act in a manner consistent with the spirit of ASH. We are a community which welcomes people from many different walks of life, regardless of circumstance. We are LGBTQ+ friendly, and maintain a progressive stance. We are here to support each other, to motivate each other, and to learn from each other.

  • Listen with an open mind. 
    • Be willing to consider another person’s views.
    • Be open to compromise. 
    • Be willing to cooperate with others on their ideas.
    • Members will vote on important decisions. Moderators will help ease ties and contentious votes.
  • Use effective communication. 
    • Members will be able to vocalize their ideas and discuss issues with no repercussions or overt biases. 
    • Listen carefully and attentively to other members. If a member has difficulty of any kind engaging with the discussion, they may stop the meeting to ask for a break or for assistance. 
    • Don’t be overly critical, but remain honest. Group moderators will help keep peace in the group.
  • At meetings we follow the official agenda.
    •  Allow speakers to make their statements with no interruptions and save any questions for the allotted discussion period.
    • Be patient. Do not interrupt unless in case of an emergency. 
  • No trolling. 
    • If an individual starts a discussion or brings up a topic that other members find disagreeable or offensive, and fail to heed warnings about their behavior, it may, at the discretion of a group admin, be considered trolling. Trolls will be removed from the group and membership may be revoked. 
  • No hate speech and/or bullying. 
    • There is zero tolerance for any form of bullying or harassment.
    • Bullying of any kind isn’t allowed, and degrading comments based on race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
    • No personal attacks, no derogatory responses, and try to minimize the use of irony/sarcasm. 
    • Keep your ego in check. No antagonists or “haters” are allowed. 
    • Avoid making negative comments about someone’s speech or their writing. 
  • Be respectful. 
    • Respect group rules and guidelines. 
    • Regard others’ thinking and contributions with dignity. We are here to support each other, to motivate each other, and to learn from each other.

  • Respect everyone’s privacy
    • Being part of this group requires mutual trust. What’s shared in the group should stay in the group, unless specific permission is granted between members.
    • You can respect another persons point of view without agreeing with them. 

Rules will be available for reference to all members. Any advice given in this group is free of liability. We will not be held accountable for a lack of legal, medical, and other professional offices.
